The Youth Advocacy Tour started in Kumba on February 22nd, 2024 at CCAS Kumba. We witnessed a remarkable turnout, thanks to the support of the CCAS Kumba staff. The event aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug abuse among youths and empower them to make positive life choices.
The event commenced with insightful talks from distinguished speakers. Dr. Asonganyi, a medical doctor from the Kumba District Hospital, delivered a comprehensive presentation on drugs, highlighting their various types and the adverse health effects of drug abuse. His expertise shed light on the medical consequences of substance misuse.

We were also graced with Mme. Arrey Sandrine who engaged the attendees in an interactive discussion on the detrimental effects of substance abuse on academic aspirations. Her powerful insights resonated with the youths, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle for academic success.
Mr. Takusi Soh, a prominent youth leader and role model in Kumba, shared his perspectives on the societal impacts of drug abuse and its implications for youths’ life ambitions. He concluded with actionable strategies for personal growth and community development.
The event also featured contributions from esteemed Resource person and staff, including the Head of Counseling Department at CCAS Kumba, Ebai Derrick, Taku Gilbert, Zabze Terence, and Tanyi Irene. Their bridging talks facilitated smooth transitions between sessions and enhanced the overall success of the program.
The event concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impact on the attendees and reinforcing YLEA’s commitment to promoting youth empowerment and substance abuse prevention in Kumba and beyond.
